Friday afternoon a group gathered in front of RAS, then toured the southwest part of the campus including the stadium, athletic facilities, University of Texas Club and the new San Jacinto dormitory. If you haven't seen these new digs, they are first rate. Later, the World
War II Veterans hosted dinner at the Austin Country Club. It was a
"sharing of history." For 45 years Kirk Cansler has worked
promoting the WWII Veterans. There were 66 persons attending their Annual
Dinner. Early Saturday, the Board met to verify the slate of officers for 2001 and finalize preparations for reunion activities. Note that Rod Koenig has taken the reins as President, backed up by Clay Fulcher as Vice president. Jeff Howell was elected to fill the remaining term of Max Miller, who will continue to be active through his role on the Midshipman Foundation Board. The annual business meeting was well attended and followed by an indoor tailgate party provisioned by Bob Gartner with a huge subway sandwich. We recognized all the alums and spouses in attendance and honored several alums for service to the Foundation. One notable event was the introduction of regional directors:
Wet or dry, after the game, a raucous contingent converged at the Military History Museum at Camp Mabry for our annual dinner, including some we haven't seen for years. Here is a list of most of the participants. You can see who you missed.
