Horns squeak past Kansas State, 24-20. Despite an anemic offense, the Horns outlasted the Wildcats, thanks in large part to a loud cheering section in the north end zone. Fumbles kept it interesting, but the defense saved the day. We know that Glenn Looney and the Navy League hosted Texas Land Commissioner Jerry Patterson to start the weekend, because Jim Brotherton came out and played golf the next morning. There were only eight of us playing golf, but we had big fun. Star Ranch is a great course and the price and weather and food were perfect. Next year we need more players. Thanks to the NROTC unit staff for joining us. Did anyone take pictures? Once again, the Class of 1952 had a big turnout for their Friday night event, Rusty hosted the dinner at ACC and a small group gathered at Scholz's. You know the Scholz's gathering was small because they closed the place at10:00pm. Your board of directors met early Saturday. Fred Moon was kind enough to provide a few pictures of these hard working and hard playing souls. The annual meeting was highlighted by the presence of four flag rank alums and scholarship awards to some terrific midshipmen. More than 70 alums enjoyed the barbecue and most watched the game. Thanks to Fred for the rest of the pictures which can be found with the other photo albums. In addition to NROTC Alumni hats, Clay Fulcher contracted to have a commemorative coin created for the NROTC Alumni. It is really cool and will be available for foundation donors, graduates and distinguished guests of the NROTC unit. You can purchase the coins as a memento or gift or for trading. Contact Bob Gartner if you are interested.
