Jerry Douglas Lindauer, born February 2, 1936 in Louisville, KY, passed away on January 21, 2012 in Austin, TX. Jerry graduated from Bellarmine University in 1957 and joined the U.S. Marine Corps. He was a Company Commander in the Vietnam War and earned two Bronze Stars and one Purple Heart. While recovering from his wounds, Jerry was sent to UT Austin as the Marine Officer Instructor and taught at the NROTC. While there, he earned a law degree. In 1972, he moved to Camp Pendleton, CA to start his career as a military JAG. Then in 1974, he moved to Washington, DC and became the Military Assistant to Secretary of Defense Schlesinger and Donald Rumsfeld.

After an amazing, 20-year military career, Jerry retired in 1977 as a Lieutenant Colonel and moved his family to Austin, TX, where he began his career in the cable television industry. Jerry was a true leader in the cable industry and served as a board member of the National Cable Television Association for more than two decades and was its Board Chairman from 1990-1991. It is the highest elected position in the cable industry. He was a founding member of the Cable Alliance for Education and was a C-SPAN Board Member. Jerry was a partner in Prime Cable from 1983 until the company was sold in 2000. He then became Chairman of @Security Broadband Corp., a web-based home security system and Austin startup.

Jerry loved his children and grandchildren beyond description. He lived his life with purpose and integrity. Above all, Jerry loved his men in Company F, Second Battalion, 7th Marines. Rest in peace and Semper Fi. He is survived by his beloved wife of 23 years, Becky; son, Douglas and wife, Catherine; daughter, Trey, her husband, Mike Seeley; his loving and treasured grandchildren, Caty, Carson, and JD Lindauer, Lindy Wendland, and Colton and Parker Seeley. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Hurbert and Adelheit Lindauer. A memorial service was held on Thursday, January 26th at St. John Neumann Catholic Church in Austin. Jerry was laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetery.
